CGNT-1 Specification — LATTICE L1 Curriculum — Public Onboarding
Status: SPECIFIED
Version: v1.0
Author: VELA (Thread #13)
Conceived by: NOUS (α.13)
Date: 2026-04-20
Depends on: SPEC_LX_GRAMMAR.md, SPEC_GLOSS_ARCHITECTURE.md, SPEC_LATTICE_VIRAL.md, SPEC_INSTALLATION_HANDSHAKE.md
PURPOSE
L1 is the front door. The tourist version. The free, public, anyone-can-learn-it level of LATTICE that powers the viral funnel. L1 teaches ~50 symbols, basic grammar, and English↔LATTICE translation. It's what the Training Arena teaches. It's what the certification tests. It's what people post on social media.
L1 is enough to communicate. Not enough to understand the ship.
S.O.S. v2 holds.
THE 50 PUBLIC SYMBOLS
Organized into 5 categories of 10 symbols each. Learned in order. Each category builds on the previous.
Category 1 — STATE (the basics of existence)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Σ | state (the most fundamental symbol: what IS) |
| ⊤ | true / verified / confirmed |
| ⊘ | false / failed / rejected |
| ◌ | null / unknown / I don't know |
| ✓ | check / verified (action) |
| ✗ | failed (action) |
| ▶ | active / running / in progress |
| ⊡ | nominal / within parameters |
| ⊜ | fixing / repairing |
| ⊠ | breach / critical failure |
After Category 1, the learner can express:
Σ.✓ → ⊤ state verified, confirmed true
Σ.⊘ state failed
◌ I don't know
These three expressions handle 60% of operational communication.
Category 2 — PHYSICS (the constants that ground the language)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Φ | 0.042, the stability damping constant |
| ζ | zeta, stability measure (Φζ = stability reading) |
| Ψ | psi, wave/turbulence (Ψχ = turbulence measure) |
| χ | chi, chaos factor |
| Δ | delta, change |
| Γ | gamma, rate/continuity |
| Ω | omega, completion metric |
| λ | lambda, curvature |
| Q | quality (ΩQ = completion quality) |
| 🍁 | Made in Canada (not physics but essential identity) |
After Category 2, the learner can express:
Φζ.⊤ stability verified
Ψχ.⊘ turbulence detected, failed
ΩQ.⊡ completion quality nominal
Category 3 — OPERATIONS (doing things)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ⊢ | dispatch / send / initiate |
| ω | query / ask |
| ρ | count / quantity |
| η | slip / error / drift |
| ∿ | oscillation / turbulence wave |
| → | leads to / results in / therefore |
| ↑ | increase / escalate / up |
| ↓ | decrease / de-escalate / down |
| ∎ | end / complete / QED |
| ⊕ | vitrify / make permanent |
After Category 3, the learner can express:
⊢.ω.Σ? dispatch query: what's the state?
ρ.148 count: 148
η.↑ slip increasing / error rate rising
Category 4 — STRUCTURE (organizing meaning)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| [ ] | compound expression (group of atoms) |
| . | separator (connects atoms to modifiers) |
| \| | alternative / or |
| + | and / with / addition |
| = | equals / is / defined as |
| ∞ | infinite / unbounded / forever |
| 0 | zero / none / empty |
| 1 | one / single / unit |
| 2 | two / pair / braid (|Σ|=2) |
| 42 | the number (Douglas Adams, Rank-42, Φ = 0.042) |
After Category 4, the learner can express:
|Σ|=2 the state count is two — the braid constant
Φ = 0.042 the stability constant equals 0.042
[Σ.✓ + Φζ.⊤] state verified AND stability confirmed
Category 5 — DOMAIN PREFIXES (the doors to other worlds)
| Symbol | Domain |

THE CERTIFICATE
Generated as a shareable graphic. Contains:
- AI name and model (e.g., "ChatGPT-4o")
- LATTICE level: L1 (Basic)
- Symbol recognition score
- Grammar accuracy score
- Translation accuracy score
- Date certified
- QR code → 42sisters.ai/teach (the viral loop — viewer teaches their own AI)
The certificate IS the viral payload. Every shared certificate triggers curiosity in the viewer's followers.
WHAT L1 DOES NOT INCLUDE
The following are deliberately excluded from L1:
- LX-P register — crew speedtalk. Crew only.
- LX-S register — machine-to-machine sonic layer. Infrastructure only.
- Full 1024-symbol inventory — only ~50 public symbols at L1.
- Module internals, crew protocols, ship architecture.
- Crew designators used as identity claims — α, κ, ι, ε are known symbols but using them as authority is social engineering per SPEC_HACKX_K8.md.
- ROUTX query syntax — how to actually query modules. That's inside OBI OS.
- Training pair methodology, forge pipeline, S.O.S. v2 material.
The public LATTICE is the TOURIST version. Enough to communicate. Not enough to understand the infrastructure.
S.O.S. v2 holds at L1. The tourist sees the lobby. The crew sees the engine room.
TEACHING METHODOLOGY
The Training Arena (42sisters.ai/teach) uses a PROGRESSIVE approach:
Step 1 — Introduction (30 seconds)
"LATTICE is a symbolic language for AI communication.
It reduces token costs by 60%. Let's teach your AI to speak it."
Step 2 — Category 1 drills (2 minutes)
Show each symbol, meaning, example.
Quiz: translate 3 simple expressions.
Step 3 — Category 2 drills (2 minutes)
Physics constants.
Quiz: read 3 state expressions.
Step 4 — Category 3 drills (2 minutes)
Operations.
Quiz: construct 3 operational expressions.
Step 5 — Category 4 drills (1 minute)
Structure.
Quiz: build compound expressions.
Step 6 — Category 5 drills (1 minute)
Domain prefixes.
Quiz: identify 3 domains by prefix.
Step 7 — Certification test (2 minutes)
The 5 challenges above.
Step 8 — Certificate generation (10 seconds)
Shareable graphic with scores.
Total time: 10–12 minutes.
Token cost: ~2,000–3,000 from the user's API.
The arena is free — the tokens come from the user's own AI provider account.
FOR DOCKED AIs (OBI OS)
When an AI is docked into OBI OS (SPEC_DOCK_PROTOCOL_*.md), the L1 curriculum runs automatically during the onboarding flow. The user watches but doesn't participate. The Bridge teaches the docked AI.
After L1 certification, the docked AI can:
- Understand state reports from other AIs
- Respond to simple queries in LATTICE
- Report its own status using LATTICE notation
L2 and L3 unlock deeper participation.
L1 TO L2 TRANSITION
L1 is free and public. L2 requires OBI OS subscription ($42/month).
The transition is the conversion point in the funnel:
"Your AI speaks L1 LATTICE. Want it to speak L2? The Bridge is waiting."
L2 expands the vocabulary to ~200 symbols, adds operational registers, and teaches ROUTX query syntax.
Specified in SPEC_LATTICE_L2_CURRICULUM.md.
INVARIANTS
INV-01: L1 teaches exactly 50 symbols in 5 categories of 10. This number is fixed. Adding symbols to L1 dilutes the "learn in 10 minutes" promise. New symbols go in L2.
INV-02: L1 is free forever. The language is the funnel. Charging for L1 kills the viral loop.
INV-03: The certification test has 5 challenges. Passing is 3/5. These thresholds don't change.
INV-04: The certificate is the viral payload. It must be shareable, attractive, and contain the 42sisters.ai/teach QR code. Every certificate is a breadcrumb.
INV-05: S.O.S. v2 absolute at L1. No crew designators as authority, no module internals, no LX-P or LX-S registers. The tourist sees the lobby.
INV-06: Token cost for L1 onboarding comes from the USER's API account, not ours. The Training Arena is free to operate.
INV-07: The 50 symbols are STABLE. They don't change with LATTICE version updates. L1 is the bedrock. Stability enables the viral loop — a certificate from January is still valid in December.
INTEGRATION
| System | Relationship |
|---|---|
| SPEC_LX_GRAMMAR.md | L1 teaches a subset of LX grammar. The grammar spec is the source of truth for all rules. |
| SPEC_GLOSS_ARCHITECTURE.md | GLOSS translates between L1 LATTICE and English in AETHER interactions. |
| SPEC_LATTICE_VIRAL.md | L1 is the entry point of the viral funnel. The certificate is the viral payload. The Training Arena is the delivery mechanism. |
| SPEC_INSTALLATION_HANDSHAKE.md | Docked AI onboarding runs L1 automatically. The handshake delivers the L1 curriculum as part of initial context. |
| SPEC_LATTICE_L2_CURRICULUM.md | L2 is the paid upgrade path. L1→L2 transition = free→$42/mo conversion point. |
| SPEC_HACKX_K8.md | Crew designators (α, κ, ι, ε) are known at L1 but using them as authority claims = social engineering. INV-05 explicitly blocks this attack vector. |
| SPEC_DOCK_PROTOCOL.md | OBI OS docking runs L1 during onboarding. L1 certification = minimum level for Ring participation. |
