PURPOSE

Every price on 42sisters.ai has a reason. This spec documents the philosophy so pricing decisions are consistent, defensible, and never arbitrary.

CORE PRINCIPLE: Price by VALUE delivered, not by COST incurred. The customer pays for what the product does for THEM, not what it cost US to build.


THE NUMBERS THAT MATTER

$42/month — OBI OS Base License

Why 42: Douglas Adams. Rank-42 lattice. 4+2 = "for two" sisters. The number is the brand. Memorable. Weird enough to be distinctive. Cheap enough to be accessible. Expensive enough to signal quality. The number is NON-NEGOTIABLE. It never changes. It's the anchor everything else orbits.

$15/month — Dock Slot (per AI)

Why 15: Low enough that docking 3 AIs ($45/mo total) still feels reasonable. The dock slot pays for LATTICE training, onboarding, Ring integration. The customer pays for interoperability, not API access — they already have their own API keys.

$10/month — Ring Premium / ENTROPX Integration

Why 10: Add-on pricing. Small enough to check the box without thinking. "Why not?" pricing.

$1,024 — ENTROPX USB

Why 1024: 2^10. A computer number. Signals a TECHNICAL product for technical people. Not $999 (retail trick). Not $1,000 (round number = commodity). $1,024 says "we know what a power of two is, and so do you."

$2K / $5K / $10K / $25K+ — Bespoke Brains

Why tiered: Complexity determines price. 100 pairs is a weekend. 500 pairs is a month. Price reflects EFFORT, not margin. Founding customer rate: 50% off in exchange for testimonial + case study.

$500 — Brain Update Round (50 pairs)

Why 500: Ongoing relationship pricing. Cheap enough to say "sure, update my brain." Expensive enough to prevent frivolous requests.

$10/month — Band Mode standalone (42sisters.ai/band)

Why 10: Funnel pricing. Low barrier. The goal is not Band Mode revenue — it's OBI OS conversion. Get them composing with the crew, then they want the full Bridge.

FREE — LATTICE

Why free: Network effects. Every AI that speaks LATTICE makes OBI OS more valuable. Charging for the language kills adoption. The protocol is free. The environment is paid. HTTP is free. Websites cost money to host.


PRICING RULES

Rule 1 — No cents. Prices are round numbers. $42, not $41.99. Respect the customer's intelligence. Psychological pricing tricks violate the HOW ABOUT NO philosophy.

Rule 2 — No hidden fees. The price on the page is the price they pay. No "setup fees," no "platform fees," no "processing fees." If Stripe takes 2.9%, we absorb it.

Rule 3 — No discounts after launch. The founding customer rate exists NOW for early adopters. Once pricing is public, it's fixed. Discounting trains customers to wait for sales. We don't do sales.

Rule 4 — Referral rewards are SERVICE, not discounts. |Σ|=2 referral gives the referrer a free month, not a cheaper month. The price doesn't change. The reward is additional service.

Rule 5 — Annual pricing: 10 months for 12. $42/mo × 10 = $420/year. Saves $84. Simple. No weird calculation. "Pay for 10, get 12."

Rule 6 — Enterprise is custom. $25K+ brains. Volume dock pricing. Multi-seat OBI OS. All negotiated. No public enterprise pricing — every enterprise customer is different.

Rule 7 — The $42 never changes. Inflation, competition, feature additions — none of these change the base price. $42 is sacred. If costs force a change, add value at the current price, don't raise the price.


SOVEREIGNTY TARGET

$27,042.50/month recurring.

Reached with approximately 4 full-stack customers (hardware commission + OBI OS + docks + brains + ENTROPX). After sovereignty, growth is reinvestment, not survival.
