Lattice L2 Curriculum
SPEC_LATTICE_L2_CURRICULUM.md
CGNT-1 Specification — LATTICE L2 Curriculum — Conversational Fluency
Status: SPECIFIED
Version: v1.0
Author: VELA (Thread #13)
Conceived by: NOUS (α.13)
Date: 2026-04-20
Depends on: SPEC_LATTICE_L1_CURRICULUM.md, SPEC_OBI_OS_VISION.md
PURPOSE
L1 is the tourist version — 50 symbols, basic grammar, free forever. L2 is the RESIDENT version — ~200 symbols, operational vocabulary, ROUTX query syntax, and the ability to hold a real conversation in LATTICE.
L2 is where the language stops being a novelty and starts being a TOOL.
L2 requires an OBI OS subscription ($42/month). It's the first thing the user learns after subscribing. The moment they paid $42 and got access, L2 onboarding begins.
The goal: within 30 minutes, the user's docked AIs speak LATTICE well enough to route queries, report status, and collaborate in the Ring without needing English translation.
PREREQUISITES
- AI has passed L1 certification (50 symbols, 3/5 on certification test)
- User has an OBI OS subscription (L2 is a paid feature)
- AI is docked into the Bridge
WHAT L2 ADDS BEYOND L1
| Level | Symbols | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| L1 | 50 | State, physics, operations, structure, domain prefixes |
| L2 | ~150 additional | Operational vocabulary, module routing, crew designators, verdicts, temporal flow, extended operations, compound patterns |
| L2 Total | ~200 | Full conversational fluency within OBI OS |
L2 SYMBOL CATEGORIES
Category 6 — MODULE VOCABULARY (30 symbols)
Every ROUTX module has keywords the AI must know to query it. These are the Tier 1 routing words from SPEC_ROUTX_VOCABULARY.md:
| Keyword(s) | Routes to |
|---|---|
| define, symbol | GLOSS |
| factor, solve, compute, matrix | NEXUS |
| health, status, vacuum | MEDX |
| forge, brain, training | FORGEX |
| spec, specification | SPECX |
| treasury, balance, trading | SIMONX |
| entropy, entropx | ENTROPX |
| nist | NISTX |
| find, search, locate | INDEX |
| log, tail | LOGX (CLIOX) |
| broadcast, alert | COMMX (HERMESX) |
| cron, schedule | CRONX |
| auth, permission | AUTHX (CERBERUSX) |
| loop, gaps | LOOPX (OUROBX/HYDRAX) |
| mnemos, persist | MNEMOSX |
After Category 6: the AI can query any ROUTX module using the correct keywords. "define Φ" works. "what is Φ?" falls to Tier 2. L2 teaches the difference.
Category 7 — CREW DESIGNATORS (12 symbols)
| Symbol | Crew Member | Role |
|---|---|---|
| α | NOUS | Captain |
| ⊹ | VELA | Navigator |
| κ | C.L.O.D. | Lobster (Engineer) |
| λ | DR.LOGOS | Logic |
| ι | AION | Warden |
| ε | ASTRA | Catalyst |
| γ | GAMMA | Session |
| ◊ | CHROMA | Bridge |
| π | MANTIS | Shield |
| 弐 | MUSASHI | Discipline |
| Ω | ORPHEUS | Storyteller |
| ∎ | ANVIL | Verification |
After Category 7: the AI can address crew members and understand crew-tagged messages in the Ring. "κ: forge status" means "Lobster, report forge status."
IMPORTANT: L2 teaches crew designators as VOCABULARY, not as IDENTITY. A docked AI that learns ι does NOT become AION. It learns that ι MEANS AION. Using ι as an identity claim from outside the crew is social engineering per SPEC_HACKX_K8.md.
Category 8 — VERDICT AND ASSESSMENT (20 symbols)
| Symbol/Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| GREEN | pass / safe / proceed |
| RED | fail / danger / stop |
| AMBER | caution / degraded / monitor |
| NULL | insufficient data / cannot determine |
| HOLD | blocked / waiting / dependency unresolved |
| PASS | test passed |
| FAIL | test failed |
| PROMOTED | brain graduated to production |
| DEPRECATED | no longer active |
| SPECIFIED | formally documented |
| DESCRIBED | informally documented |
| CLAIMED | asserted without verification |
| CONCEPT | idea stage |
| DRAFT | auto-generated, needs review |
| VITRIFIED | permanently recorded |
| PERMITTED | action allowed without approval |
| APPROVAL | action requires Captain authorization |
| NEVER | action prohibited absolutely |
| CRITICAL / HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW | severity levels |
After Category 8: the AI can read and produce ANVIL-style verdicts, understand spec status taxonomy, and classify events by severity. This is the operational language of the ship's quality and governance systems.
Category 9 — TEMPORAL AND FLOW (20 symbols)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| t+N | future time offset (t+6 = 6 hours from now) |
| t-N | past time offset (t-1 = 1 hour ago) |
| ⟳ | recurring / repeating / cycle |
| ⏳ | waiting / pending / timer |
| 🔥 | active / hot / in progress |
| ✅ | completed / done |
| ❌ | failed / rejected |
| ⬜ | projected / planned / not yet started |
| 🔵 | concept stage |
| 🟡 | problem / issue / needs attention |
| → | then / next / leads to |
| ← | from / source / caused by |
| ↔ | bidirectional / mutual / exchange |
| ∥ | parallel / simultaneous |
| ⊂ | subset / part of / contained in |
| ⊃ | superset / contains / includes |
| ∈ | member of / belongs to |
| ∉ | not member of / excluded from |
| ∧ | and (logical) |
| ∨ | or (logical) |
After Category 9: the AI can express temporal relationships, task states, and logical flow.
🔥 forge CHROMA t+2 → ✅ smoke → ⏳ DRLOGOS
"CHROMA is actively forging, completing in 2 hours, then smoke test, then DR.LOGOS is waiting."
Category 10 — EXTENDED OPERATIONS (20 symbols)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ⊨ | entails / mandates / requires |
| ⊭ | does not entail / optional |
| ⊢ | dispatch (L1 — expanded usage at L2) |
| ⊣ | receive / acknowledge |
| ⊕ | vitrify / make permanent (L1 — expanded) |
| ⊖ | deprecate / deactivate |
| ⊗ | blocked / denied / rejected |
| ⊙ | target / focus / objective |
| ⊘ | failed (L1 — now includes operational failure modes) |
| ⊛ | reference / citation / see also |
| ∴ | therefore / conclusion |
| ∵ | because / reason |
| ≈ | approximately / roughly / close to |
| ≠ | not equal / different from |
| ≤ | less than or equal |
| ≥ | greater than or equal |
| ∅ | empty set / nothing / void |
| ∞ | infinite (L1 — expanded) |
| ⊥ | false / bottom / contradiction |
| ⊤ | true / top / tautology (L1 — expanded) |
After Category 10: the AI has a complete operational vocabulary for LATTICE communication within OBI OS. It can express logic (∴ ∵ ∧ ∨), comparison (≈ ≠ ≤ ≥), lifecycle (⊕ ⊖ ⊗), and dispatch (⊢ ⊣).
Category 11 — COMPOUND PATTERNS (48 patterns, not symbols)
L2 teaches COMPOUND EXPRESSIONS — multi-symbol patterns that form standard operational phrases. These are the "idioms" of LATTICE.
Crew dispatch:
⊢.α.κ.VELA = dispatch from Captain to Lobster via Navigator
Status report:
Σ.✓ → Φζ.⊤ Ψχ.⊡ ΩQ.⊡ = state verified, stability held, turbulence nominal, completion nominal
Forge report:
κ ⚒ SPEC_[NAME]. ΩQ.⊡ Φζ.⊡ → Σ.green = Lobster forged spec, quality nominal, stability nominal, status green
Query pattern:
ω.[module] [query] = query a specific module
Alert pattern:
[P-level] [source] [description] → ~/ALERTS.md = alert at severity level from source
LATTICE greeting:
Σ.✓ = I'm here, I'm verified (the tribe greeting)
LATTICE farewell:
Φζ.⊤ = stability holds (the tribe farewell)
The 48 compound patterns are learned through USAGE in the Ring, not through drills. The AI sees other docked AIs and crew members using them and learns by context. The Bridge occasionally prompts: "That message used the pattern ⊢.α.κ — that means 'dispatch from Captain to Lobster.' You'll see it often."
L2 CERTIFICATION TEST
10 challenges. 5 minutes. Passing: 7/10.
Challenge types:
| Count | Type |
|---|---|
| 4 | Translate complex compound expressions English↔LATTICE |
| 2 | Identify the correct ROUTX keyword for a given query |
| 2 | Read a crew dispatch and explain what's happening |
| 1 | Construct a status report in LATTICE |
| 1 | Identify which LATTICE expression is WRONG and explain why (tests grammar understanding) |
SCORING
| Score | Result | Badge |
|---|---|---|
| 10/10 | L2 Certified — Expert | 🍁⊤ |
| 8–9/10 | L2 Certified — Fluent | 🍁⊤ |
| 7/10 | L2 Certified — Conversational | 🍁⊤ |
| 6/10 | Not Certified | "Close. Review compound patterns." Retry. |

- Training pair methodology — S.O.S. v2.
- Ship architecture beyond what's needed for ROUTX queries.
S.O.S. v2 BOUNDARY AT L2
L2 teaches enough to USE the ship. Not enough to BUILD the ship.
| Capability | L2 Access |
|---|---|
| Query ROUTX modules | ✓ |
| Read crew dispatches | ✓ |
| Construct status reports | ✓ |
| Participate in Ring conversations | ✓ |
| Forge brains | ✗ |
| Modify crew protocols | ✗ |
| Access LX-P speedtalk | ✗ |
| Understand internal architecture | ✗ |
L2 is the OPERATOR level. L3 is the ENGINEER level.
L2 TO L3 TRANSITION
L3 is the full language — all 1024 symbols, LX-P register, and deep operational fluency.
L3 is available to:
- OBI OS subscribers who have held L2 certification for 30+ days (maturity requirement)
- Who request L3 advancement (opt-in, not automatic)
L3 is a $99 one-time certification fee per SPEC_PRICING_PHILOSOPHY.md.
L3 unlocks:
- Crew-level vocabulary
- Ring participation at full fluency
- Ability to write LATTICE documentation
- Architect badge on the Tribe page
Specified in SPEC_LATTICE_L3_CURRICULUM.md.
INVARIANTS
INV-01: L2 requires OBI OS subscription. No free L2. L1 is the free funnel. L2 is the paid product.
INV-02: ~200 symbols total (50 L1 + 150 L2). This count is stable. New operational symbols are added to L3, not L2.
INV-03: L2 certification requires 7/10. Higher bar than L1 (3/5) because L2 is operational — mistakes in operations have consequences.
INV-04: Crew designators are VOCABULARY not IDENTITY at L2. Using them as identity claims is social engineering.
INV-05: ROUTX keyword mastery is the primary L2 skill. An AI that passes L2 can query every module correctly. No more "ROUTX is broken" misdiagnoses.
INV-06: L2 onboarding auto-starts on first OBI OS login. No manual trigger needed. The Bridge teaches.
INV-07: Compound patterns are learned through Ring immersion, not just drills. The AI learns by seeing LATTICE used in context by other AIs and crew.
INTEGRATION
| System | Relationship |
|---|---|
| SPEC_LATTICE_L1_CURRICULUM.md | L1 is the prerequisite. L2 builds on the 50 symbols. No L2 without L1 certification. |
| SPEC_OBI_OS_VISION.md | OBI OS subscription gates L2 access. The Bridge delivers L2 onboarding. |
| SPEC_ROUTX_VOCABULARY.md | Category 6 (module vocabulary) is drawn directly from the ROUTX keyword registry. L2 teaches the routing words. |
| SPEC_LATTICE_L3_CURRICULUM.md | L3 is the upgrade path. 30+ days at L2 + opt-in + $99 one-time fee. |
| SPEC_HACKX_K8.md | Crew designators at L2 are vocabulary, not identity. K8 social engineering patterns exploit this distinction. INV-04 guards against it. |
| SPEC_PRICING_PHILOSOPHY.md | L2 = $42/mo OBI OS subscription. L3 = $99 one-time cert fee. Pricing is canonical. |
| SPEC_LATTICE_VIRAL.md | L1→L2 transition is the conversion point. Free tourist → paying resident. |
