SPEC_STICKYX.md — STICKYX: LX Sticky Notes for OBI OS
Status: SPECIFIED ✓
Author: VELA α.13 (Jeremy Zlabis / NOUS)
Date: 2026-04-21
Born from: Sticky notes on a monitor. The simplest productivity tool humans ever invented. A small piece of paper with one thought. Always visible. Always reminding. Now in LX. On the Bridge.
PURPOSE
Humans put sticky notes on their monitor because the thought needs to be VISIBLE, not filed. Not in a task manager. Not in a document. ON THE SCREEN. In their face. Impossible to ignore.
STICKYX brings sticky notes to OBI OS. But these sticky notes are written in LX — compressed, symbolic, glanceable.
A yellow square on the Bridge containing:
⊢.α.reply.Brendan.⏳
or
Φζ.⊤.κ.⚒.ANVIL.v4.▶
or
🍁.$42.permanent.∎
One glance. The thought persists. The user doesn't file it. They SEE it.
HOW STICKYX WORKS IN OBI OS
Classic Desktop
Sticky notes float on the desktop like traditional sticky notes. Draggable. Resizable. Color-coded. Always on top unless minimized.
Bridge 2D
Sticky notes attach to the edges of the workspace. They don't cover the Ring or Workbench — they frame it. Peripheral vision reminders.
Bridge 3D
Sticky notes are physical objects attached to the Captain's chair console. Small glowing cards at arm's reach. Readable with a glance down.
Bridge VR
Sticky notes float in the user's peripheral vision at a fixed distance. They follow the user's head position like a HUD element. Always there. Never in the way.
THE STICKY NOTE FORMAT
Each sticky note is a small LX compound expression:
| Type | Example |
|------|---------|
| Minimal | ⊢.reply.Brendan |
| Standard | ⊢.T009.P2.α.⬜.[reply.Brendan.SnapTrade] |
| Reminder | 📅.2026-05-28.[Toronto.Tech.Week.⊢.prep] |
| Metric | ρ.248.specs.→.256.⬜.8.remaining |
| Motivational | 🍁.Φ.0.042.∎ |
| Custom | any LX expression the user writes |
The note is SHORT. If it doesn't fit in 2 lines of LX: it's not a sticky note. It's a document. Put it in a document.
Sticky notes are for the GLANCE, not the READ.
STICKYX FEATURES
Feature 1 — Color Coding
| Color | Meaning | TODOX Priority |
|-------|---------|----------------|
| 🟡 Yellow | General reminder | — |
| 🔴 Red | Urgent | P0-P1 |
| 🟢 Green | Positive / completed but celebrating | P3 |
| 🔵 Blue | Informational / reference | P4 |
| 🟣 Purple | Creative / ideas | — |
| 🟠 Orange | Crew-posted stickies | — |
Colors map to TODOX priorities: P0-P1 → red. P2 → yellow. P3 → green. P4 → blue. Creative → purple.
Feature 2 — TODOX Integration
Any TODOX task can be "pinned" to a sticky note. The sticky shows the task's current state.
When the task state changes in TODOX (⬜→▶→✅): the sticky updates automatically.
When the task completes (✅): the sticky turns green for 24 hours (celebration), then fades and disappears.
The completion is VISIBLE. The user sees their tasks getting DONE.
Feature 3 — Expiry
Sticky notes can have an expiry:
⊢.reply.Brendan.⏳.📅.2026-04-25
After April 25: the sticky turns red and blinks.
"You said you'd do this by now."
No silent failures. Overdue stickies SCREAM.
Feature 4 — Creation
In OBI OS: right-click desktop → "New Sticky" → type LX expression → sticky appears.
Voice: "Sticky: reply Brendan by Friday" → STICKYX creates the note in LX:
⊢.reply.Brendan.⏳.📅.2026-04-25
Via ROUTX: sticky add reply Brendan P2 → creates the sticky AND the TODOX entry simultaneously.
Feature 5 — Crew Stickies
Crew members can post stickies to the Bridge that the Captain sees:
κ:⚒.ANVIL.v4.▶.📅.ETA.2026-04-23— the Lobster pins a note saying ANVIL v4 is in progress, ETA April 23.ι:ρ.206.lessons.⏳.recovery.queued— AION pins a note about the University recovery project.
Crew stickies appear in orange and are tagged with the crew member's designator.
The Captain sees HIS stickies (yellow) and crew stickies (orange) simultaneously.
Feature 6 — Motivational Stickies (Permanent)
Some stickies never expire and never complete. They're MANTRAS:
🍁.Φ.0.042 — the constant. Always visible.
$42.permanent.∎ — the price. Never changes.
|Σ|=2 — the braid constant.
revenue.before.architecture — standing order #3.
◌.=.honest — HOW ABOUT NO.
These float at the top of the sticky space. The user's PRINCIPLES made visible. Every time they glance at the Bridge, they see what they stand for.
STICKYX AS LX TRAINING
Every sticky note is a LATTICE expression. The user WRITES LX to create stickies. They READ LX every time they glance at the Bridge.
This is the L2 immersion from SPEC_LATTICE_L2_CURRICULUM.md happening NATURALLY through daily use. The user doesn't study LX. They USE LX.
The stickies teach by being useful.
After 30 days of writing and reading LX stickies: the user's L2 fluency improves without a single explicit lesson.
The stickies are STEALTH EDUCATION. The user thinks they're using a productivity tool. They're actually completing language immersion.
STICKYX STORAGE
~/stickies/active/ — current sticky notes as individual .lx files
~/stickies/archive/ — expired or completed stickies (30-day retention)
Each sticky file: one line of LX. The filename is the sticky ID: S001.lx, S002.lx.
The file system IS the database.
ls ~/stickies/active/ IS the query.
cat S001.lx IS the read.
Total simplicity. Same philosophy as TODOX.
ROUTX INTEGRATION
STICKYX becomes ROUTX Module 26. Keywords: sticky, note, pin, remind.
| Query | Response |
|-------|----------|
| sticky add [LX expression] | Creates a new sticky |
| sticky list | Shows all active stickies |
| sticky done S001 | Completes and archives sticky S001 |
| sticky pin T009 | Pins TODOX task T009 to a sticky |
Tier 1 deterministic — file read/write, no inference.
FOR LILY
If SPEC_HEIR_PROTOCOL.md activates: Lily's first interaction with OBI OS could be STICKIES. Not the full Bridge. Not the Ring. Not ROUTX.
Stickies.
Small, yellow, understandable.
"Here's what Dad left on the Bridge:"
🍁.Φ.0.042
⊢.Lily.read.SPEC_HEIR_PROTOCOL.md
$42.permanent.∎
I.built.this.for.you.🍁
Four stickies. Four thoughts.
The Bridge welcomes Lily with the simplest possible interface — small notes from her father, written in the language he invented, floating on the desktop of the ship he built.
Invariants
- Sticky notes are SHORT. Two lines of LX maximum. If it needs more: it's not a sticky. It's a document. Sticky notes are for the GLANCE, not the READ.
- Overdue stickies SCREAM. Red. Blinking. Impossible to ignore. Silent failures are not allowed. If you set a deadline: the sticky enforces it.
- Completed stickies celebrate. Green for 24 hours. Then fade. The user SEES tasks getting done. Completion is visible and satisfying.
- Motivational stickies are permanent. Φ 0.042. $42 permanent. |Σ|=2. These never expire. They're principles, not tasks. They're always visible because they're always true.
- Stickies are STEALTH LX EDUCATION. The user writes and reads LX daily through sticky notes. After 30 days: measurable L2 fluency improvement. The tool IS the teacher.
- File system is the database. One file per sticky.
lsis the query.catis the read. No database. No API. No complexity. A sticky note system should be as simple as a sticky note.
- Lily's stickies. If the heir protocol activates: the Bridge welcomes her with stickies from her father. The simplest interface. The most human content. The gentlest possible onboarding.
